Owner considering either selling or trading. They are not flying cross country as much now and may trade down a bit. They would consider a Cherokee, Skyhawk, Champ, etc as part trade toward the Mooney. The Wife has an interest in taking training. The Mooney is flown regularly even if it is a short flight to another local airport. Current owner for 14 years. The M20J has the Lycoming IO-360, 200 HP one of the best made.
The performance of the M20J, from 1978 to newer models, are almost the same. The recent overhaul also contributes to performance. Flying 160 knots burning 10.5 gph is nice. Or fly a little slower and burn less.
Avionics are all King Digital, KN64 DME and the Century I autopilot tracks both Navs.
It is in exellent condition. The engine was overhauled by Triad Aviation in Burlington, NC, in 2005, a highly regarded nationally known engine shop. Most of the shops in NC use Triad for their engine overhauls I went over there and was impressed by their professionalism. They are located at the Burlington Airport(BUY) and would be glad to show anyone around.
It is IFR certified & includes all logs.
The front all leather seats were redone a few years ago and are like new. New carpet. The interior also in good condition.
Firewall forward almost everything is new or overhauled at the engine overhaul, 6 years ago. Engine & accessory cost was $24,000 about 6 years ago. The original paint looks good, since it has been hangered the last 14 years of thier ownership and the previous owner before that.
The book price is $85,000 not including the extra equipment that is in this plane. This extra equipment include alternate standby vacume, Shadin digital fuel flow analyzer showing GPH, JPI engine scanner w/4 cyl EGT & 4 cyl CHT
and 5 year old leather front seats and new carpet.
So, a fair price would be $85,000.
Current owner has been the only one who has flown the plane since he has owned it. Descents have always been carefully managed, shallow descends, slowly powering down at about 1" of MP per minute to avoid over cooling. The temperatures are all pretty tight, all 4 CHT & 4 EGT
